Setting Up Your Course

Once purchased, your course will be sent to you via Australia Post :

  • You will receive an order confirmation email with tracking instructions.
  • When you receive the course upload it to your computer following the instructions in this website and supplied with the software.

Instal and Set Up Your Course

  1. Upload the supplied files (you will receive a data stick with all required files) to a location of your choice on your computer.
  2. Open the file named "Year7_Maths_Install", "Year8_Maths_Install", or "Year9_Maths_Install" (depending on your purchased course)
  3. Scroll through the files and select "Year7_Install.xlsm", "Year8_Install.xlsm", or "Year9&10_Install.xlsm" (depending on your course).
    Do NOT delete any of the files.
  4. Click to install the course files to "C://Acotex_Year7" (or "C://Acotex_Year8" or "C://Acotex_Year9")
  5. After installation, the course icon will appear on your desktop.
  6. Click this desktop icon to launch the course.

SECTION 2

Navigating Your Course

Course Structure Overview

  1. Launch the course by clicking the desktop icon.
  2. Courses are organised into modules, and these modules contain topics that align with the relevant syllabus.

Progressing Through the Course

  • Each question is immediately marked with a tick or a cross, or
  • Buttons are provided for questions to explain solution
  • Videos are available for guidance, explanation and concepts. (Youtube)
  • Use the navigation buttons (NEXT/PREV) to move through the exercises as shown below.

Taking a Self-assessment Test

  1. Take a self-assessment test before starting the course.
  2. Retake the test after you have completed the course.
  3. If you don't score 100%, go through the course a second time and then retake the test.
  4. Repeat this process until you achieve a 100% score and feel confident in your understanding.

Tips for Effective Learning

  • Aim to complete the course thoroughly at least twice within its active period (e.g., one year).
  • Do not look at solutions (text or video) before attempting an exercise.
  • If you get a question wrong, work through it until you understand and can solve it correctly.
  • If you need help with an exercise, make sure to redo it on your own afterward.
  • If a question is clearly beyond your current level or outside your syllabus, you may skip it.
  • Avoid memorising solutions; focus on understanding the underlying concepts.
  • Try to align your course studies with your school lessons.

How to Solve Maths Problems (Divide and Conquer)

As much as possible, try and translate your question using your own words (especially for story or word problems). You cannot represent the problem mathematically if you cannot explain it in your own word.
